What is Medical Assisting?

The Medical Assisting program prepares you to become a competent, entry-level Medical Assistant. The program is accredited by the Commission on Accreditation of Allied Health Education Programs, upon the recommendation of the Medical Assisting Education Review Board.  This approval allows successful graduates to sit for the national certifying CMA exam, provided they meet all eligibility criteria.  If you pass your exam, you will be a Certified Medical Assistant.

Medical Assisting – Diploma 12 Months*

Our 12-month^* Medical Assisting Diploma will prepare you for entry-level technical, clinical and administrative positions in physicians’ offices, hospitals, and clinics. This program is intended for students who wish to pursue a career in Medical Assisting in a shorter period of time.

Medical Assistant – Associate Degree 18 months^*

The Associate degree includes the courses in the Medical Assisting diploma program and general education courses to complete an academic degree, enhancing the opportunity for advancement in the profession.  Diploma in Medical Assisting graduates can enroll in the Associate degree to continue their education and complete it in 6 months, online^*.

How to Apply: Step-by-Step Guide

When applying to Beal, you must provide high school transcripts, valid GED / HiSET or college transcripts. You may also be required to take Beal’s entrance exam (unless you qualify for an exemption). Beal University has a rolling admissions policy, which means you will be considered for acceptance as soon as you submit your admissions application. You must also take an entrance exam if your program requires it (or qualify for an entrance exam exemption). There is a $30 application fee. However, the fee can be waived in some cases.
