The Master of Science in Nursing – Family Nurse Practitioner (MSN-FNP) is a Master’s degree program designed for the experienced nurse who wishes to expand their knowledge in advanced nursing practice. Through theoretical and practical experiences, the curriculum builds upon the nurse’s experiences.
The MSN-FNP is based on the National League for Nursing Core Values including; a culture of caring, a culture of diversity, a culture of integrity, and a culture of excellence.
Upon successful completion of the program, students could seek or obtain advanced employment as a Family Nurse Practitioner or in a Nursing related field(s).
Throughout this program, students will have the opportunity to:
- Apply principles of advanced practice nursing, clinical reasoning, and related sciences to provide high quality, safe, and culturally competent care across the lifespan.
- Evaluate healthcare outcomes using data and technology to improve clinical decision making and quality of care across diverse patient populations.
- Utilize research while integrating theory, evidence-based practice, clinical judgment, and interprofessional perspectives to improve practice and associated health outcomes to enhance patient care.
- Assume leadership roles in the effective provision of culturally responsive, high-quality nursing care while collaborating with interprofessional teams to coordinate and manage advanced practice care of patients across the lifespan.
- Propose quality initiatives, recognizing the value of interprofessional contributions that improve health outcomes across the continuum of care where the advanced practice nurse serves as a change agent.
- Engage in lifelong personal and professional growth through reflective practice and commitment to diversity, equity, inclusion, and belonging.

Our curriculum is designed to prepare graduates for the national Family Nurse Practitioner certification. Graduates can choose between:
- American Nurses Credentialing Center (ANCC), or;
- American Association of Nurse Practitioners (AANP)
The MSN degree program at Beal University is institutionally accredited with the University’s accreditor, the Accrediting Commission of Career Schools and Colleges (ACCSC). The MSN-FNP program is not currently programmatically accredited; however, the University intends to pursue programmatic accreditation through the National League for Nursing Commission for Nursing Education Accreditation (CNEA). Some states may require that students graduate from accredited programs and/or that they successfully achieve national certification to obtain their advanced practice (APRN or CNP) licenses. Applicants should review the certification and licensure requirements for their respective states of residence and/or states in which they intend to practice.
