Beal College’s Addiction Counseling students are opening their hearts in support of a family this Christmas. The student led group, with the help of their Program Director, Susan Polyot, want to give back to their community that has supported them throughout many times of need.
The Salvation Army was the obvious choice as Beal shares a deep partnership with the non-profit organization. Many Beal students have completed their externship hours there over the years, and they get to see firsthand the needs of families in our community. Diana Horton, the Social Service Director at the Salvation Army in Bangor participates on the Addiction Counseling advisory board at Beal College, and many Beal College graduates are employed there as well. So when the student group was looking for a way to give back, the Salvation Army was at the top of their list. Beal student, Shawn Arsenault made the arrangements and the student group plans to adopt a family and fulfill the Christmas list as well as provide food items for a traditional Christmas dinner.
